We arrived in the early afternoon, and left around midday the next day. For us, it was enough time to explore the important parts of the city, however there is enough to do that you can stay several nights as well.
Arriving in Verona
Verona has an airport to which you can fly into from multiple destinations, we arrived in our car as we came from Munich.
Where to sleep
As that was the start of our two week Italy road-trip, we opted for a budget hotel or rather B&B which was called Shakespeare room, Verona (not able to find it on booking.com anymore. It was nice, clean and located perfectly to venture out to the city on foot.
What to see
1. Arena die Verona
This is a beautiful roman amphitheater in the centre of Verona. It is a beautiful photo spot as you can see below. We opted to walk around it and did not go inside, however you can buy an entry ticket or book a guided tour. In the summer months, there are concerts held in this arena, we did not have the chance to go but it surely sounds amazing.

2. Piazza Bra
The Piazza Bra, is a square right near the arena of Verona and is one of the largest and most famous squares in Verona. There are a lot of pretty cafes and restaurants to stroll along, or to sit in, making it a popular spot among tourists and locals to enjoy relax and soak in the beauty of the city.

3. Casa di Giulietta
Everyone knows Shakespeare’s famous play Romeo and Juliet. This famous tragedy was staged in Verona at the famous balcony. It is of course necessary to visit, we even managed to take a picture, however it is insanely crowded and the court yard has limited space so it is very full. You can go inside the house to go on to the balcony, however you have to purchase a ticket which we believed was not worth it.

4. Duomo di Verona
The Duomo di Verona, also known as Verona Cathedral is a stunning Romanesque-style cathedral in the heart of Verona. It is beautiful from outside, but definitely also necessary to take a look inside. The cathedral dates back to the 12th century with beautiful marble facades.

5. Lunch / Dinner at Piazza della Erbe
The Piazza della Erbe is a bustling square in the historic centre of Verona It has been a central hub of activity since Roman times and is known for its vibrant atmosphere. It is lined with colorful buildings, cafes, and shops. It is a must-visit destination for soaking up the lively energy and history of Verona. We had dinner at one of the restaurants, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was great.

6. Ice cream at Amorino
The famous ice cream chain throughout Italy called Amorino is definitely worth going. The ice cream is delicious and they make it in the cone in form of a flower which is super pretty. As you can see in the picture below, it melts super fast so you got to eat it fairly quickly.

7. Citta Antica (Old Town)
Take a stroll through the historic part of the city centre also known as Citta Vecchia. You can take some time to admire the beauty of the Italian buildings and narrow streets.
8. Bridges of Verona
While you are strolling through the city, admire the many bridges surrounding the city centre such as Ponte Garibaldi, Ponte Pietra, Ponte della Vittoria. From these bridges you can enjoy a beautiful view of parts of the cities old part.

9. River Adige
Cross one of the many bridges and take a stroll along the river Adige, this gives you great views of the city and is a nice walk before heading back into the old town on Verona.
9. Best Sunset View of Verona – Castel San Pietro
This was our favorite part about Verona, watching a beautiful sunset above the city. There are quite some stairs to climb to get up to the top, which can be tiring in the heat, but believe us it is totally worth it for the view as you can see in the pictures below.
